Ykwsg (22) from Derbyshire, England, Derby
About me
I have a lot of affection to give, and no one to give it to. I always appreciate someone to talk with; I know how to listen. I am quite reserved, and not good at starting conversations, so please be patient with me. Feel free to message first.

About me
- Where I liveThe edge of a suburb, on the edge of a city, on the edge of a county. Semi-rural (there's a field opposite the house), nice and quiet, good for cycling, but within reach of the city centre. We're also right underneath the Peak District - nice to have a landscape with contours (I spent too long in the Fens as an undergrad).
- Where are you originally from? Here, though my father was born in Mauritius, and my mother in Stockport.
- Do you want to stay there? For now, I'm happy to stick around; as to the future, I'm quite open-minded.
- What is your occupation?I do plenty of music: church organist, piano-playing for hotels, bit of singing. Am also chasing menial office work to bring in a few more pennies.
- What have you done so far?Nothing much. Little things here and there.
- What are your future plans? My postgrad studies will take up the next two years. After that, we'll see...
- Your perfect partnerWon't know that until I meet her. Am prepared to be surprised.
Stuff I like
- What are you interests/hobbies?Music foremost, but not alone. My first degree was in Classics, so lots of things Greek and Roman interest me, especially the languages and their descendants. I also find astronomy fascinating; to me, a starry night sky is one of Nature's greatest marvels.
- MusicAll sorts: mostly classical and vocal, but also like jazz, easy listening, some rock, film scores, and so on. I usually have songs/pieces which I like, rather than whole genres. Not keen on RnB, rap or anything too noisy.
- Your fav tv seriesI get through a lot of British comedy shows, particularly old classics like Fawlty Towers. Also historical dramatisations and colourful documentaries. Can't stand soap operas or so-called "reality TV".
- Your fav books/authorsConan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes canon, Douglas Adams, historical novelists such as Mary Renault and Robert Graves, the odd biography (just finished Herbert Howells'), anything about language (such as "The Meaning of Tingo").
- What sort of movies do you like?Again, historical stuff (although I may need restraining from spotting inaccuracies), action, adventure, comic, sci-fi.
- Types of people you like?I like to think I'm quite accommodating, but extremes are difficult to tolerate (too much arrogance, or too much self-deprecation). Anyone I can talk to, who shares some of my interests, who listens and responds, and doesn't forget everything said after a short time, is good for me. Oh, and I can't keep up with party animals. It's just not my style.
- What kind of people do you find attractive? It helps if they're not significantly taller than I am. Slim to average build, usually brunette, fairly natural look (not keen on too much make-up, piercings, tattoos, etc.) But I always appreciate a girl who actually seems to enjoy my company.
- FoodI can be quite fussy, but I do my best. I only eat within my price range, which is quite modest at present. Food to me is a means to an end, rather than an art form. I can't cook beyond the survival essentials of a student (pasta mostly), so always appreciate someone who can.
- DrinksDRINK! Not me. I'm not completely teetotal, but close enough. I don't have a problem with being around drinkers, except if it just gets out of hand and embarrassing.
- Fav thingHmm. Possibly my iPod, or laptop.
- What's your favourite radio station ?Radio 4 is always good, or BBC 7.
- What's your favourite tv station ?Definitely the BBC, but not sure which channel.
- What's your favourite drink?I drink a lot of water. Also Ribena when at home, and fizzy stuff like Coke or Sprite when in company.
My attitude
- Family lifeI can't see myself being single forever. It's nice to have someone to share things with. Marriage and family would be good, but not yet.
- MoneyAgain, it's a means to an end, but that end is not happiness. I prefer to be in a fairly comfortable financial situation; I find needless extravagance just distasteful.
