Hi :-) I'm a guy who's ... affectionate, independent, down-to-earth, smart, sometimes geeky, open, thoughtful, warm, reflective, romantic and, I'm told, easy to talk to. I'm looking for a woman who's also smart and affectionate, and at least a little girly/feminine ... beyond that I don't have a big check-list :-) Aiming for a "serious" (not solemn ;-) relationship eventually but who knows what will happen on the way. I think that would include close friendship, affection, trust, openness and discussion, romance, acceptance (though that doesn't mean we let each other away with everything ;-), mutual support for growing in life, some shared interests, some time to ourselves and, last but not least, emotional and physical passion. About me
- Where are you originally from?Born in Glasgow, bred in Fife, buttered in Edinburgh.
- Do you want to stay there?I'm feeling quite settled in Edinburgh and have plenty of friends, my own wee place (well, mortgage ;-) and a great job here, but you never know.
- What is your occupation?I got my first computer when I was a kid and it developed from a hobby to a career. I really enjoy my job, though at home computers are largely relegated to web-browsing and email these days (well, and online dating ;-)
Stuff I like
- Types of people you like?I tend to be drawn to people who are open with themselves, open-minded, creative, funny, quirky, alternative and individualist. But don't feel you have to be all of these things to get my interest :-)
- What kind of people do you find attractive? I said "girly/feminine" in my description above, but that covers a lot. I enjoy and appreciate the various beauties of women, and a bit of style, flair and little details. Doesn't mean I'm hankering after a real-life Barbie-doll or fashionista, just that tomboys don't quite do it for me :-)
- FoodOoh, all sorts (except really spicy). I enjoy good food and wine, but on the other hand I'm easily pleased: cheese & apple on oatcakes is part of my staple diet :-) Plus the staples, of course ...
- PetsI seem to have an affinity for cats -- always tend to stop and talk to them :-) Don't have anything against any other kinds of pets, though, really.
- What are your favourite activities?I like to do some kind of dancing at least once a week -- lately hip-hop aerobics(!) but may be getting back into salsa soon. I've always been a reader -- a good helping of sci-fi/fantasy and psychology/self-development (though aiming to just be more intuitive with that this year) but also general fiction. I sometimes enjoy cooking :-) I need my quiet time to myself but equally need the company of friends, both for light-hearted banter and for deeper, meaning-of-life conversations.
My attitude
- Family lifeI expect I'll be the settling kind eventually and, although I couldn't honestly say I've always wished for kids, I do get on well with them so I expect I could be persuaded :-)
- Jobs&WorkingI love my job but wouldn't say I'm career-oriented. It challenges me intellectually and lets me create things to solve real-life problems and (in a slightly removed way) help people.
- PoliticsNot very political: I understand it's important but these days I've no idea who to trust! I try to be a bit "ethical" and "eco-friendly" when I can.
