About me
- Where I liveDescribe your area or region in your own words. What do you like/dislike about your area? Live in Sheffield and I do like to get out of the city as often as possible; wish I could live in Castleton or Hathersage! I'm from rural south Norfolk though - just working in Sheffield -and I love to come back to Norfolk as often as possible
- What have you done so far? What sort of jobs did you have in the past or what sort of stuff have you done in the past that you want to mention? Have had some staggeringly boring jobs in the past; nothing at all worth mentioning. I'm at last starting to get where I want to go and am beginnning to feel stimulated and fulfilled by work as I'm now in scientific research after having gone back to university
- Your perfect partnerPlease describe your perfect partner! This question is actually more difficult than it seems at first glance but will give it a go: Someone imaginative and creative! Must love books, reading, writing, must prefer the countryside to the city (even if it isn't possible to live in the country at the moment) An artist and dreamer (even if the tedious little details of life keep getting in the way)
Stuff I like
- What are you interests/hobbies?Have you got any specfic interests or hobbies? Are you interested in a specific area or subject? Countryside, wildlife, wildlife photography, creative writing, reading biographies/history, trying to write Scifi stories,
- MusicWhat sort of music are you into? Do you go to live gigs? Do you go to concerts, operas or musicals? I still sometimes listen to my Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart collections, however my interest in rock music and bands began to seriously flag around ten years ago and by five years ago had vanished altogether. I always liked quite a lot of classical music on the quiet when I was a young indie rocker on the surface. Now I'm old I just prefer classical music rather than try to keep up with all the terms for all the different sorts of popular singing groups there are nowadays - most of which I'm far too old to understand the point of anyway!
- Your fav tv seriesWhat are your favourite tv series you would love to watch with your perfect partner? The X Files, nature documentaries, anything by David Attenborough, history documentaries Blackadder, Monty Python, Star Trek
- Your fav books/authorsWhat are your favourite authors, books and types of books? Do you read at all? How important would it be that your partner reads the same books? It's important to love books and reading but they don't have to be exactly the same books I read; it's interesting to have books recommended that I haven't read before. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance might be my favourite. Also anything by Umberto Eco. Some of my other favourites are already listed above.
- What sort of movies do you like? What sort of movies do you like and which ones don't you like? This is important if you should go to the movies on the first date... I like Scifi, also mystery and suspense but not really horror - at least not just some gratuitous bloodfest - it has to have some point to it before I'll watch it. Historical dramas can be good. Political thrillers - sometimes. Comedies - sometimes Dances With Wolves is a great film. However, the films that seem to be the most popular often do the least for me.
- What kind of people do you find attractive? Have you got a specific taste as far as look is concerned? Or does the outer appearance of a person mean nothing to you? Be honest... Depressingly, far too much emphasis is placed on looks; it's the only thing that really matters in this society - looks and/or wealth - despite what most people say about those things not mattering. Anyway, I live in hope.
- FoodWhat type of food do you like? Which restaurants to you go to and which ones do you avoid? Do you like cooking? Should your partner be able to cook? What does food mean to you? Have you got a British or French attitude towards eating? I don't like restaurants; I don't like being waited on - just don't like the concept of it. Am finding this difficult to explain, it's just a feeling I have. I cook stuff for myself and it usually turns out ok
- HolidaysWhat sort of holiday do you like? Where have you been so far? What are your next destinations? Or does maybe travelling mean nothing to you and you prefer to stay @ home ? Have lived in the mountains in Italy and Greece which were study field trips for work - scientific research in Earth Science; don't really go on holidays as such, certainly not the sort of holiday that just seems to involve wandering about getting sunburnt and pissed; I like to have good reasons to use up airmiles to be in some place. Would love to get onto a study field trip to the Galapagos Islands some day
My attitude
- Jobs&WorkingWhat does your job mean to you? Do you just work for the money or is your job your hobby? Are you carreer-oriented? I've had some dismal, tedious jobs in the past but now after having gone back to university and got into scientific research I'm at last beginning to fill stimulated and fulfilled by work
- MoneyWhat does money mean to you? Would you like to have lots of money or lots of friends if you had to decide? Enough money to live on is all that's necessary; chasing money just to buy loads of stuff is plain wrong 'Man's rich with little, were his judgement true Nature is frugal and her wants are few'
- PoliticsAre you interested in politics? Do you support a specific party? What do you think of the European Union? A blessing or a curse? Am interested in politics but I certainly don't support any particular party. I prefer Greenpeace
