About me
- Where I liveTerrible area of Liverpool - not that I like the city all that much. Capital of Culture? F**k off.
- Where are you originally from?An even worse area than I live now - Huyton.
- Do you want to stay there?I know I hate Liverpool and want to move away, but I'm not sure if I'd like to live anywhere else in England or not. I think I might like to live in Scotland, but I know that my spiritual home is Ireland, so I guess that's where I'd end up living.
- What is your occupation?Forget what's shown on my profile (I couldn't figure out the right thing to put down!) I work in a local supermarket, but by night and and rest of my spare time I'm a writer of science fiction and fantasy novels. "I wanna be a writer when I grow up!" :D
- What have you done so far?In the past I've had an office job in a security company, worked in a bank (Alliance and Leicester), now I work in a supermarket. I've had about four articles published (only very small - the articles and the magazines.) I've finished my first novel and I'm working on the second in a series of 8.
- What are your future plans?I'm planning on getting out of Liverpool by the end of the year, possibly/hopefully to Ireland. Not sure how that would work as a theatre company is interested in turning my screenplay into a theatre drama and is looking at putting it on early next year, so I might wait until that's done. For the next few months I plan on working on some more short stories and sending them off to sci-fi/fantasy magazines.
- Your perfect partnerHmmm... difficult to do without sounding too picky - which I'm not (expect when it comes to food lol.) My ideal woman would have long red-gold hair and green eyes... but I'm more of a hair person so the eyes are just a bonus! As I said, I'm not that picky so I do go for black, brown and blonde.
Stuff I like
- What are you interests/hobbies?I enjoy writing stories, reading, listening to music, watchin telly, drinking, having the occasional smoke (just ciggies or a ciggar)... oh and playing pool or snooker - not really into sports.
- MusicLove the oldies - anything from the 60s, 70s and 80s, some 90s stuff too. Love power ballads, soft rock, love songs and a bit of RnB. Never been to a conert before, but I'd love to see Bon Jovi or MeatLoaf if I got the chance.
- Your fav tv seriesIncluding soaps? hehe. Well in no particular order: Heroes, Home and Away, Friends, New Adventures of Superman, Blackadder, Bad Girls (so sad I have series 1-7 on DVD boxsets, Rome, Corrie, Eastenders (though I don't watch it that much anymore), The Sarah Connor Chronicles. My favourite things to watch on a night in with a few mates or a date is comedy - especially after a few drinks!
- Your fav books/authorsMostly science fiction and fantasy, but I've started branching out into things like Stephen King and historical-fiction. I have nearly 90 Star Wars books and got into them when I was about 9 or 10, then I got into Harry Potter & Lord of the Rings. Now I read most fantasy stuff. I don't think it's that important to me that a partner has the same taste in reading - just the fact the she reads is fine by me.
- What sort of movies do you like?Again, mostly sci-fi/fantasy films, but also action, comedy and romance. Don't usually go for horror - I'm a bit of a scaredy-cat really, but I'll watch the occasional one. I don't mind foreign movies, but I've only seen three and like 2 of them.
- Types of people you like?People I like usually have a bit in common with me - not too much though (that freaks me out). I don't like people who are obnoxious, arrogant, egotistical or hippocritical. I have to be able to trust my friends, because they know they can always trust me.
- What kind of people do you find attractive? Being honest.... I'm more into the personality of a girl - but the initial attraction comes from hair and eyes. Body size is not usually an issue for me, so long as everything seems in proportion. (God I never realised I was this picky til now!)
- FoodI'm a junkie (not in the drug sense - I'm a junk food eater). I do like eating out, especially at places like Eddie Rockets or Frankie and Bennies. I'm not the healthiest person in the world, but I'm a lot thinner than I have the right to be for all the junk food I eat. I think it's because I tend not to snack or eat that much food period.
- DrinksI'm a spirit guy - don't drink larger or beer, though I love cider (especially Magners). I don't drink that often, though when I do I tend to go overboard, which is why my friends joke that I'm an alki. I can usually mix drinks (spirits anyway) without any problems, but the one thing I can't do on a night out is have something to eat after having a lot to drink, or drink something non-alcoholic after drinking loads of alcohol
- HolidaysI've been to Ireland the most in my life, and to Wales a few times. I've been to Scotland once, and so far I've never been aboard -though I'm going to Spain in a few months.
- PetsDon't mind pets - my family has a dog and he'll adorable... I just can't stomach the smell of animal food! Dog and cat food make me wretch.
- Fav thingHmmm... my Star Wars book collection? My laptop? My DVD collection? I don't really have much in the way of individual items. I think maybe the closest is my i-pod or PDA phone.
- Fav PlaceIreland, County Wexford - though if I move to Ireland, I'd be living in County Wicklow with my family for a while.
- What's your favourite radio station ?Magic, on the freeview.
- What's your favourite tv station ?FiveLife - only because Home and Away is the only show I make a point of watching when it's on.
- What's your favourite drink?Used to be Southern Comfort and Coke or JD and Coke, now its Tia Maria n Coke or Magners.
- What's your favourite food?Mmmm... Pizza!
- What are your favourite activities?Reading, walking, chatting, surfing the net, writing, listening to music, playing pool/snooker, clubbing.
My attitude
- Family lifeI know I don't want the kind I screwed up family I've got. I have my mum and step-dad, and my father is re-married, so that gives me four sets of grandparents and too many cousins and aunts and uncles to count. If I ever got married, to me it would have to be for life, because I don't think I could bear to have children with someone, before or after marriage, and later break up and have to share custody - it's not fair on the children, and I know from experience that children will grow to resent one or both of their parents in that situation. My ideal family would be myself, the wife and two or three kids - plus maybe a pet.... so long as I didn't have to feed the pet :D
- Jobs&WorkingI work where I do because I have to in order to make ends meet, not because I like it. Whatever I'm doing, I'll make sure I'm in all the time, unless I'm terribly ill, and always on time (I hate being late for things). Career-wise, I aim to become a full-time writer, whether doing my own novels or working on commission.
- MoneyI'd rather have a lot of friends than money. I always imagine that if I became a VERY successful writer then I would make certain provisions for my family, build my dream house, make sure I had enough to live off, and make generous donations several times a year to charities.
