About me
- Where I liveI live in Bolton, which is apparently the biggest town in Europe. It's one of those places which wants city status but will probably never get it. I've warmed up to it over the years but the fact it's close to Manchester remains the best thing about it, especially since all the decent shops, clubs and pubs started closing a couple of years ago.
- Where are you originally from?Bolton, but I've also lived in Manchester and Leeds.
- Do you want to stay there?I would love to live in Japan for a while, although probably not forever. I don't see myself living in Bolton forever, especially because there aren't many decent jobs, but it wouldn't be the worst thing ever if I did. I'm more concerned with the people in my life and what I do with it than where I do it.
- What is your occupation?I'm a legal secretary and have been for a couple of months now. My previous job history is complex and messy, but suffice to say I'm happy where I am for now.
- What have you done so far?Bartender, shop worker, events co-ordinator, PA...
- What are your future plans?I have tons of ambitions, tho it's not like I'm going to crumble if they don't come true... I'd like to go to Japan at some point - I also want to visit Berlin, Rekjavik, New York, Los Angeles, Cuba, Mexico... I want to do as many extreme sports as I can and maybe one day get a book published.
- Your perfect partnerAck. It's impossible to know until you meet them. I could set a bunch of criteria then fall head over heels for someone completely different tomorrow. So long as they're not stupid, ignorant or a chav.
Stuff I like
- What are you interests/hobbies?Photography, yoga, gigs. Slowly learning to play guitar. Movies. Drinking, dancing, falling over. The usual.
- MusicLast gig I went to was the Polysics - a Japanese electronic pop-punk new wave band. Generally, I'm into metal, punk, rock and cheesy stuff. The only kinds of music I really object to are formulaic R&B and dull indie music.
- Your fav tv seriesI like cheesy stuff that I can laugh at - Quincey ME, Cagney and Lacey, Neighbours, etc. Also comedies - especially the darker ones like Peep Show, Nighty Night, etc.
- Your fav books/authorsI read a bunch, but not as much as I should probably. Favourite authors - Hunter S Thompson, Jane Austen, Shakespeare (yeah, I know he's a playwright, not an author), George Orwell, Kurt Vonnegut, Philip K Dick... I also like graphic novels, particularly Alan Moore, Warren Ellis, Joe Sacco and Jhonen Vasquez.
- What sort of movies do you like?I like good movies and bad movies (provided they are bad enough to laugh at). Favourite ever film is Brazil and I love everything directed by Terry Gilliam. I like a lot of Japanese, Korean and Chinese flicks, but not dubbed. I like the horror classics, random comedies and anything with Muppets or Monty Python in it. Movies based on video games are usually a goldmine of unintended comedy.
- Types of people you like?Again, I have no idea until I meet them. I could tell you what people I've liked in the past were like, but then I'm not with them anymore, so they can't be all that great...
- What kind of people do you find attractive? I don't. Have. A. Clue. Generally, people with something different about them. I'm put off by tracksuits and normal chav wear.
- FoodMy biggest weakness is chip nans. In fact, I eat far too much takeaway in general. Other than that, I'm trying to be healthy so sticking to sandwiches and jacket potatoes at home. But I'll try anything. Except cat meat.
- DrinksI probably drink an average amount for someone my age. Not that often, but a lot when I do. I am a cider drinker. You've been warned.
- HolidaysI can never afford foreign holidays, which is a shame because there's tons of places I want to go. Having said that, I've had really good holidays in Belfast and Edinburgh. It depends more on the people you're with than anything else.
- PetsNever had any pets, but I like cats. Used to be scared stiff of dogs, but I like 'em now. Not a fan of the ones that tear children's faces off tho.
- Fav thingDon't really have one. The only things I have that can't be replaced are photos.
- Fav PlaceFavourite place I've never been: Japan. Favourite place I have been: probably London.
- What's your favourite radio station ?I hate the radio.
- What's your favourite tv station ?I would probably take the radical action of switching the TV off rather than watch the same channel all the time.
- What's your favourite drink?I have Red Bull issues. Main alcoholic drinks are white wine and cider. I don't get on with red wine or lager.
- What's your favourite food?Would it be really unclassy to say chip nans?
- What are your favourite activities?This is just repeating earlier questions now. My favourite sport I ever did was bungee jumping.
My attitude
- Family lifeIt doesn't matter, so long as everyone is happy.
- Jobs&WorkingI try and find jobs I like doing, but if I don't like it, I just try not to focus on it too much and get on with the rest of my life.
- MoneyI never have enough of it, but to be honest I don't really want much of it either.
- PoliticsI'm ultra left-wing, to the extent that I would happily kick Rupert Murdoch's head in if I could get away with it.
