About me
I decided last year that I'd like to see a bit of the world so I've just spent 5 months touring Spain & Portugal in a camper van which was great fun and I'm hoping to go backpacking in Canada this summer.I'd describe myself as a normal guy trying to make the most of life and would love to meet a down to earth girl who will encourage me to follow my dreams.If your anything like me you'll hate writing these things so if you want to know more about me get in touch -x-

About me
- Where I liveI used to think that Aberdeen was a complete dump until I went traveling,you kinda see things differently once you've visited other cities though.The nightlife/shopping in Aberdeen isn't great but it could be alot worse and is constantly improving. Being more of a country loon the best thing about living here for me is the fact I can be in the Cairngorms in under two hours.
- Where are you originally from?I was born in Dumfries and lived in a little village called Thornhill until I was five then moved up to Aberdeen.
- Do you want to stay there?Not quite sure what I want to do, I'd LOVE to live in the country but it's not exactly the cheepest option just now.My dream would be to own a little cottage in a remote area with a coal fire where we might get snowed in for a couple of weeks...could be fun huh!
- What is your occupation?I work through agencies at the moment as it's easier for traveling but I will say I'm not career minded.I think high pressure jobs lead to crap relationships (my experience anyway) and would rather put my effort into family/life...money's the root of all evil after all!
- What have you done so far?I suppose the biggest thing I've done so far was a five month tour of Spain & Portugal in my 1968 VW camper van (the ones you see on t-shirts all the time)to escape the Scottish winter.It was great fun and I visited some great places but I was traveling alone and got pretty lonely so I've decided to backpack from now on so i can meet more people.
- What are your future plans?I'm hoping to go packpacking in Canada for a few months this summer before coming home to buy a new flat and 'settle' down.I try not to plan my future too much as things are constantly changing and your never realy sure where life will take you next.In an ideal world I'd meet someone who wants to travel for a few years then settle down and start a family.
- Your perfect partnerMy perfect partner would be kind,loving,genuine, adventurous,open,caring,honest,down to earth,sweet, thoughtful and not have a problem with me needing some ME time...she'd also look like Kirsten Dunst...what? we're all entitled to a little dream time!

- What are you interests/hobbies?My main passion is Munro bagging...Scottish mountains of a height of 3000ft or more are called Munros,there are 284 of them and it is my aim to bag them all one day.I also love photography which I'm not too bad at but would like to imrove on by taking night classes some time.When I settle back in Aberdeen I plan to take up rock climbing and possibly dance classes (I've got two left feet!)
- MusicI embraced country music last year which alot of people may think is sad but that's because they associate country music with some guy droning on about how crap his wifes cooking is,why he loves his truck or how his three legged, blind dog called Lucky was run over last week...honestly theres so much more to it than that! I pretty much listen to anything that pleases my ear though, from Linkin park to Mozart.
- Your fav tv seriesNot a big T.V fan, I prefer to watch movies and only really watch T.V if the Simpsons, Topgear or a decent documentary is on.
- Your fav books/authorsNot the biggest reader in the world I'm affraid,when I'm traveling I read loads of books but when I'm home if it's a choice between reading or watching a film...32" screen wins hands down.
- What sort of movies do you like?First of all...who the hell would want to go to the movies for a first date? Sit in a dark room in silence for a couple of hours...sounds like a great way to get to know someone huh! I like any movie but love horrors,sci-fi,comed and thrillers the most.
- Types of people you like?I like down to earth people who don't try to be something they're not.I find it hard to describe the kind of people I like because I like loads of different people for different reasons. I suppose I also like everyone until they give me a reason not to.
- What kind of people do you find attractive? The outer appearence does mean something to me but that doesn't mean to say you have to look like a super model (or Kirsten Dunst)it just means I've got to be attracted to you...if I wasn't,what would be the point?
- FoodFood glorious food,what else is it good for?...I love pretty much all food apart from the kinda stuff your Gran cooks for you like liver,tounge etc.Chinese is my favourite but I'm always hungry again 1/2 hour after finishing (why is that?). I'm also one of those people who can eat anything they want and not put on an ounce...jealous? lol
- DrinksMorgans and coke on the rocks. I try not to be silly when it comes to drink...it just comes naturally! Only joking, I do like to go out at least once a month with my mates and stagger home in the wee hours of the morning. I've vowed never to touch Aftershocks again though...long story.
- HolidaysMy idea of a holiday is spending at least a month touring a country rather than sitting on a beach in some bloody resort for two weeks working on my tan...yawn.
- PetsNo pets but I love dogs,hamsters,rabbits...basically anything fluffy!
- Fav thingMy favourite possesion is pretty much my only possesion, my 1968 VW camper van called Libby.Sadly I have to sell her as I can't afford to keep her and go to Canada so my favourite possesion will soon be my walking boots...o my god I'm sad!
- Fav PlaceOn a nice day my favourite place would have to be at the top of a Munro, when I'm 3000ft up looking down on the world I always feel content with myself. On a crappy day my fav place has got to be in front of the fire or snuggled up on the sofa.
- What's your favourite radio station ?I only listen to the radio at work and it's normally Original FM that's on which is quite a new station for the North East and not arf bad.
- What's your favourite tv station ?Film Four, C4 and Dave are the only channels I really watch.
- What's your favourite drink?I think we already covered this...Morgans and coke with ice.
- What's your favourite food?This is sad but my favourite food is actually my Mums spaghetti bolognese...you gota love your Mums cooking!
- What are your favourite activities?Is this not just the same as asking what my fav hobbies are? Hiking, camping, photography, traveling, playing pool and watching movies.
My attitude
- Family lifeI would love to get married have a couple of kids and live happily ever after.I don't want to end up as one of those couples who have kids and forget how to live life, I'm pretty sure it's easy enough to have a family AND enjoy yourself.
- Jobs&WorkingSadly I only work for the money, what can I say...I made alot of bad choices when i was younger and it would be near impossible to pursue my dream career now. I would rather get by with what I've got and be happy than work my ass off (normally making someone else rich) and be unhappy.
- MoneyMoney doesn't make the world go round...it just makes it a smoother ride if you've got it. Sure I'd like alot of money and YES it would make me happier but I'd rather have true love in my life any day.
- PoliticsI try to avoid this subject as I don't really know enough about politics to comment on it but I will say that the British system sucks.They might as well take the shirt off the working mans/womans back...they rob you of everything else after all!
