About me
I'm kind, considerate, and thoughtful. I enjoy my life: I have great of friends whose company is important to me; a fun social life; and I'm one of the few who can honestly say I (usually) enjoy my work! There is only way to live life - to the full!
I can't just sit around (much as people may think otherwise) - I have to be *doing* something. I'm sometimes reserved and sometimes impulsive - if the mood takes me, I'll drive 2 hours to see pals.. of drive into Edinburgh simply to give someone a hug.. and my hugs are sought after :-)
I am a country-lad, who finds that cities are noisy, smelly, crowded places; interesting to visit, but not for long.
Each relationship is like a new road - it should be walked with your eyes open, and a sense of wonder in your step... and each bridge and branch could lead to a dead end, or an amazing new vista... I try to find the silver lining in clouds
I am looking for a long-term partner, but I'm not adverse to a few short-term pleasures along the way.

About me
- Where I liveI rent a cottage on a farm... it gives me the peace and quiet and space to do my own thing, and is safe for the moggies to run free :-)
- Where are you originally from?Born in Englandshire, I moved up to the highlands in '73, then down to Edinburgh in '81 and escaped back to the countryside in '97.
- Do you want to stay there?I like living rurally, here is almost perfect. I like the idea of Canada or maybe New Zealand, but I suspect they will remain a vague plan...
- What is your occupation?Professionally, I'm a code Gorilla (we're a bit like code monkeys, but more grown up, and less.... fiddly/twiddly) My unpaid "job" is running cross-country motorsports events: This year I am running 6 club-level events, 2 national events, and a charity event.
- What have you done so far?I have taught wind surfing, sailing, water skiing & canoeing; worked as both an instructor & chaperone at a children’s holiday camp; been a doorman, bouncer & bar-stocker; a labourer, brickies mate & sparkies assistant; and a house-husband.
- What are your future plans?I'm not one of these "Over-Achiever, Ambition Burns Deep Within Me" people... I'm too laid back (possibly too ambivalent) to need to reach for the stars. There are some things I'd like to do: I want to be big cheese at a National-level off-road event; I want to fill the gap in my life that is woman-shaped; and I want to die a happy man, not a drooling mindless wreck in some "granny-farm".
- Your perfect partnerMy perfect woman is smart and self-confident, well spoken and with wide ranging interests. Physically I like a slender build, fey, and with long hair.
Stuff I like
- What are you interests/hobbies?I am deeply involved in off-road motorsports. I work on land rovers (I co-rent a shed on the farm) and am a member of a Radio Amateur group.
- Types of people you like?I like people who are tolerant, peaceful, and laid back. I like people who can talk about a wide range of thing, not just their own lives and their own hobbies.
- What kind of people do you find attractive? I am very visually oriented.... I like a woman who dresses well, but not over the top; who's style flatters her figure, not hide it; who likes what she has, and doesn't try to change herself. I like a woman who has an air of self-confidence; who chuckles, not giggles; who can see the funny side of thing; who is always interested in the hows and whys of the world, but not hell-bent of righting all the wrongs therein. Someone who is sensual, tactile, independent, and prepared to accept that others may choose to live a different lifestyle to themselves
- FoodI love food: I love a rare steak, with minted new potatoes and steamed vegetables. I can cook quite well, and have made pizza for gluten-intolerant people (it choosing the right flour), and dishes for a medieval feast (no rice, no potatoes, a restricted range of spices). I just don't enjoy cooking for one....
- DrinksI'm Tea Total.... I go through phases of drinking tea, then coffee, then back to tea... but I always prefer instant to loose-leaf/freshly ground... I have tried incahol, but never found anything I like (and I worry about the Drunk and Losing Control thing....)
- HolidaysFor the past three or four years, my holidays have been spent setting up my motor-sport events. Beach holidays bore me... I need to be doing something.
- PetsI have two cats, and love dogs (my cats don't however... so home is a mutt-free zone)
- Fav thingI have loads of "things", but I'm not particularly materialistic. I really like my land rovers, and use my phone for lots of things, but I don't *need* them.
- Fav PlaceThere's a certain house in the highlands that I always go to recharge and chill out (read fell trees/chop wood/cut grass), but for day-to-day living, here is pretty amazing...
My attitude
- Family lifeI've done the marriage thing - its no different to living together... except that piece of paper. I'm not interested in kids (having, adopting, or acquiring by association), but I would like to grow old, sharing my life with someone. Right now, I have a lot of untapped affection/attention that is being directed into other areas of my life, and miss having a Miss to distract (and be distracted by)
- PoliticsI'm ambivalent to politics - the world is way to complicated for me to understand. I would prefer an independent scotland, but there are complications and problems. I like the idea of a federation of european countries, but not a central bureaucracy...
