In lieu of any new material from the late great Roses, it seems their former taskmasters are intent on milking every penny they can from the cash cow that they once were. However, if it produces work as impressive as this, then fetch them a milking stool quick. On The Remixes 10 classic Roses tracks are give to 12 top dance acts and remixers with some stunning results. Two particular tracks alone make this an essential purchase--A Guy Called Gerald's mix of "Fools Gold" which takes on of the all-time classic Madchester rave anthems and mixes it with another--Gerald's own "Voodoo Ray", and Kinobe's "Elizabeth My Dear", which takes the Roses shortest ever track and turns it into a glorious sprawling chill-out epic. Add to this great reworkings from the likes of 808 State ("Made Of Stone"), Justin Robertson ("Waterfall") and Jon Carter ("I Am The Resurrection"), and this is just further proof that the Stone Roses have a place booked in the annals of great British music history. --Helen Marquis
